Belarus claim three medals at start of Russian Speed Skating Cup final

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes are taking part in the final of the Russian Speed Skating Cup at the Kolomna speed skating center, BelTA has learned.

The event is featuring more than 80 speed skaters from Belarus and 17 Russian regions. The first competition day comprises four medal events.

Hanna Damaratskaya won the women’s 500m, finishing 0.04 seconds ahead of reigning world champion Angelina Golikova of Russia. Ignat Golovatsiuk of Belarus placed second in the men’s 500m, finishing behind Viktor Mushtakov from Altai Krai. Belarus’ Maryna Zuyeva secured bronze in the women’s 3,000m, finishing behind Russia’s Evgenia Lalenkova.

The Russian Speed Skating Cup final will be over on 26 February.
