Belarus to compete at Children of Asia Games in Russia’s Yakutsk

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have been invited to take part in the 8th International Chidlren of Asia Games in Yakutsk, Russia in 2024, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.

The decision on the admission of the Belarusian team to the competitions was taken at a meeting of the Board of the Children of Asia International Committee.

“The Belarusian athletes successfully performed at the 2nd Winter Children of Asia Games in Kuzbass. The decision of the board of the committee to allow the Belarusian team to participate in the 8th Children of Asia Games in Yakutsk is based on our adherence to the mission of the games, which is to promote Olympic values and the development of children’s and youth sport. Children should have an opportunity to compete with their peers from other countries, because this experience will undoubtedly be useful for them in the elite sport,” the statement says.

On 23 February – 5 March young Belarusian athletes participated in the 2nd Winter Children of Asia Games. They won 11 (one gold, five silver and five bronze) medals. The summer edition of the Children of Asia Games have been held every four years since 1996.
