CIS countries to send strong teams for 2nd CIS Games

MOSCOW, 17 March (BelTA) – All CIS countries have confirmed that they will send their strong teams for the 2nd CIS Games which will be held in Belarus in August, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told the media following the meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

During the meeting, he stressed that the Belarusian side is making every effort to host the 2nd CIS Games at a high organizational level. “We expect that sports teams not only of the CIS countries but also of 14 other countries will take part in the Games,” the deputy prime minister said.

He once again called on all CIS partners to actively engage in preparations for this sporting event. “In the current information environment, a difficult geopolitical situation, this event should become a vivid positive example of cooperation between our countries,” Igor Petrishenko emphasized.

Igor Petrishenko also asked Deputy Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev of Kyrgyzstan, the current chairman of the CIS Economic Council, to provide possible assistance in organizing the 2nd CIS Games in the Republic of Belarus.
