CIS plenipotentiaries to tour 2nd CIS Games venues in Belarus

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – An onsite session of the CIS Plenipotentiaries Council will take place in Minsk on 13 June 13. The main topic of the event is Belarus’ preparations to host the 2nd CIS Games 2023, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The CIS plenipotentiaries will visit the Dinamo National Olympic Stadium to attend the athletics test competitions, see a climbing wall and an air gun shooting gallery. Then they will visit the Belarusian State University of Physical Education to get familiar with the operations and coordination center of the 2nd CIS Games, see the sports facilities of the university and attend the modern pentathlon test event.

The CIS plenipotentiaries will hold their meeting in the National Olympic Committee. The Council members will hear a report by Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk on the preparations for the 2nd CIS Games. The CIS plenipotentiaries will take stock of the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council held in Sochi on 8 June and will outline the tasks for the implementation of the adopted documents and reached agreements.

The CIS Plenipotentiaries Council is expected to decide on the head of the CIS observation mission at the early presidential elections in Uzbekistan scheduled for 9 July 2023.
