Dmitry Kvartalnov named HC Dinamo Minsk head coach

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – Russian specialist Dmitry Kvartalnov has been appointed head coach of HC Dinamo Minsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk ice hockey club.

HC Dinamo Minsk signed a one-year contract with the 57-year-old coach. Earlier in the KHL Dmitry Kvartalnov headed Severstal Cherepovets (2009-2012), Sibir Novosibirsk (2012-2014), CSKA Moscow (2014-2017), Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (2017-2019), and Ak Bars Kazan (2019-2022). Dmitry Kvartalnov is the leader among coaches in the number of games in the KHL (809) and the number of wins (515). He is the holder of the Continental Cup (2015, 2016, 2017), the Russian champion title (2015), the winner of the Best Coach title (2016) and a participant of the KHL All Star Game (2014, 2015, 2016, 2020).

On 10 April, HC Dinamo Minsk announced the decision to part ways with Craig Woodcroft as the team’s head coach due to the expiry of his contract. The Canadian specialist led Dinamo since 2019. Under his tutelage this season, the Bisons finished eighth in the Western Conference and lost the first round 2-4 to SKA St. Petersburg.
