Aryna Sabalenka 2nd in WTA

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Spanish Carlos Alcaraz has returned to No.1 in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), BelTA has learned.

Despite the loss in the 1/16 finals in Rome, the 20-year-old Spaniard bypassed the Serb Novak Djokovic, who was, in turn, outpaced by the Rome winner Daniil Medvedev of Russia. The best Belarusian tennis player Ilya Ivashko ranks 86th, with 696 points. This week he will compete in the tournament in Geneva, Switzerland.

Iga Swiatek of Poland has remained world number one in the recently released WTA rankings. Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus goes second. Victoria Azarenka is 18th in the WTA ranking with 2,087 points. Aliaksandra Sasnovich is 50th with 1,034 points.
