US Open: Belarus’ Sabalenka eases into third round

MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka secured a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jodie Burrage of the UK to progress into the US Open round three, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face France’s Clara Burel who saw off Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, 6-4, 6-2, in the round of Last 64.

Earlier, Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka lost to China’s world number 44 Zhu Lin, 3-6, 3-6, in the second round. Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus lost to Magda Linette of Poland in the opener.
