Sharangovich repeats Belarus’ record for goals scored in NHL season

MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The Calgary Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich of Belarus has repeated Belarus’ record for goals scored in the NHL regular season by tallying his 29th of the season in a match against the Anaheim Ducks, BelTA has learned.

The goal of the Belarusian forward did not help his team as the visiting Ducks scored three times in the third period to beat the Flames 5-3.

Yegor Sharangovich spent 18 minutes on the ice and produced three shots on goal. None of Belarusian players scored more in the NHL before. Mikhail Grabovski of Belarus scored 29 goals in the 2010/11 season. Yegor Sharangovich has eight more matches to set a new record. Mikhail Grabovski also holds Belarus’ record for points collected in one season (58). Yegor Sharangovich currently goes with 54 points (29 goals, 25 assists).

With 73 points and 12th place in the Western Conference, the Calgary Flames have almost lost any chances of qualifying of the NHL post-season. The team go 14 points behind the eighth-placed team in the chart. The Flames next hit the road for a quick one-off in Winnipeg against the Jets on 5 April.
