MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation, Olympic champion Aliaksandr Bahdanovich has handed over a rare exhibit to the museum of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Today the exposition of the museum has been expanded with one more important item – the NOC flag which was hoisted on the highest point of Europe – Mount Elbrus on 6 August. The Belarusian hockey team jersey was also taken to the height of 5,642 meters.

The chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation said that he had conquered one of the world’s highest peaks together with his friends from the Russian sports society Dinamo which marked its 100th birthday this year. The conquest of Elbrus was also dedicated to the Belarusian athletes, striving to conquer the pinnacle of sporting achievements.

“This is not my first ascent, but it is the first one I did in the Belarusian hockey team jersey. After my first attempt, I thought I would give up and would never climb again, it was very hard. But later I decided to continue. It is hard to explain but mountains captivate, and once you start climbing, it is impossible to stop,” Aliaksandr Bahdanovich.
