MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – The 2nd CIS Games are the main event of the season for young athletes from Kyrgyzstan, referee and athletics coach Anastasia Tsareva told BelTA.
“The atmosphere is amazing. The mood is festive, everything is well organized. We were very warmly welcomed. The attitude is extremely friendly. As for the stadium itself, it is very well equipped, the surface is excellent. All in all, Kyrgyzstan has sent 17 athletes for the athletics tournament of the Games. It is still difficult to talk about what our medal chances are, since we have not yet seen most of our rivals in action,” Anastasia Tsareva noted.
The referee and athletics coach spoke about the preparation of athletes for the Games: “The Games is the main event of the season for our athletes of this age. The main competitive part for them ended in June, and all this time they were specially training for the tournament in Belarus. This is the first time they have gone to compete outside Kyrgyzstan. So they are very excited. We had two qualifying events ahead of the 2nd CIS Games, the main of which was the national championship that featured about 300 participants. As a result, the guys who performed best during the season and who showed the best results have qualified here.”
