Azarenka re-elected to WTA Players’ Council

MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Victoria Azarenka of Belarus has been re-elected to the WTA Players’ Council as a Top 20 representative, BelTA learned from the WTA website.

The Belarusian will be joined in that role by new member, Caroline Garcia of France. The Players’ Council also comprised Madison Keys of the United States, Jessica Pegula of the United States, Donna Vekic of Croatia, and Daria Saville of Australia.

The term of the new WTA Players’ Council will begin after the 2023 WTA Finals, which will be held in Cancun, Mexico, from 29 October to 5 November. Tennis players are elected to the Players’ Council for two years.

Victoria Azarenka has previously been elected to the WTA Players’ Council.

Victoria Azarenka is ranked 17th in the WTA rankings. Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka is the new world number one.
