MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes are taking part in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships which are underway in Doha, the capital of Qatar, BelTA has learned.
The Monday morning program featured preliminary heats in five disciplines. Belarusian swimmers competed in two of them. In the Women 100m Breaststroke Belarus’ Alina Zmushka clocked 1:06.77 to qualify to the semifinal in the fourth position. Alina Zmushka’s performance secured her a berth at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Anastasiya Shkurdai, another Olympic qualifier from Belarus, will perform in the Women 100m Backstroke semifinal.
On 12 February Ilya Shymanovich of Belarus will compete for medals in the Men 100m Breaststroke. Earlier, Vasilina Khandoshka of Belarus scored a total of 245.1042 points to clinch bronze in the Women Solo Free.
The 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Qatar will be over on 18 February.
