Belarusian athletes win eight medals at competitions in Moscow

MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes won eight medals at several competitions in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

Violetta Skvortsova won the gold medal in the triple jump with a leap of 14m 19cm at the tournament in memory of two-time Olympic champion Vladimir Kuts. Tatiana Shabanova was a confident winner in the 3,000m steeplechase setting her personal best of 9:45.39. Artem Kalachev won silver in the 1,500m with the result of 3:45.53, and Aleksei Kotkovets came in second place in the javelin throw with the throw at 80m 49cm.

In the Path to Olympus competition from the series Queen of Russian Sports series Matvei Volkov cleared 5m 52cm in pole vault to win gold. In women pole vault Irina Zhuk became a bronze winner with the result of 4m 33cm Maksim Andraloit won the “fast” pentathlon by scoring 4,166 points. In the 800m, Yan Sloma won bronze with the result of 1:47.16.

Now Belarusian athletes are preparing for the national championships which will be held at the Dinamo National Olympic Stadium in Minsk pm 28-30 July.
