CIS Games: Gold for Belarus in shooting event

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes Ivan Kazak and Zoya Dasko clinched gold medals in the shooting tournament of the 2nd CIS Games on 6 August, BelTA has learned.

Fifteen pairs took part in the mixed team air pistol shooting qualifications. The two Belarusian athletes advanced to the final to face Russian athletes Igor Sheludyakov and Valeriya Ganakova. The representatives of Belarus won the match 16-14 to secure gold. Another Belarusian tandem Vladislav Demesh and Aleksandra Petrova reached the small final to lose to Alina Lisitsa and Daniil Solovyov from Russia, 7-17.

Earlier on the day the mixed team air rifle shooting event podium was occupied by Russian athletes. The Belarusian pair Zakhar Sazonov and Lizaveta Tsydzik stopped one step away from the podium, taking the fourth place.

The shooting event program will also comprise two individual and two team events. Competing in the tournament are athletes from nine countries: Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
