CIS Games: Russia rout Kyrgyzstan in first handball match

MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – Russia secured a solid win, 76-1, over Kyrgyzstan in the opening match of the women’s junior handball event at the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus on 5 August, BelTA has learned.

The match took place at the Victoria sports center in Brest.

Belarus is set to face Uzbekistan.

The men’s junior handball event is due to kick off on 5 August as well. Russia will take on Uzbekistan. Then two Belarusian teams will face each other.

The U19 teams are taking part in a round-robin tournament, with medal matches scheduled for 9 August.

The 2nd CIS Games are underway in all the regions of Belarus on 4-14 August. Competing are over 2,200 athletes from 23 states.
