The shooting competitions of the 2nd CIS Games kicked off on 5 August. Competing are nine countries: Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The opening ceremony featured an exhibition show from parachutists of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the orchestra of the Suvorov Military School. The opening ceremony was followed by an official training session at all firing ranges.
