Minister: Preparations for 2nd CIS Games are on the home stretch

GRODNO, 5 June (BelTA) – The preparations for the 2nd CIS Games are on the home stretch, Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said during his visit to Grodno on 5 June, BelTA has learned.

When asked about the level of Belarus’ readiness to host the 2nd CIS Games, the minister said that “we are already on the home stretch”. “Preparations are done through test events. First of all, we are determining the performance of all technical services and readiness of the sport infrastructure. We are also checking the accommodation and catering facilities for the athletes, judges, all the personnel, the conditions in which our guests, our athletes will be living here,” he said.

“We are in Grodno today. We have already visited Soligorsk and Molodechno on Saturday. Tomorrow we are going to Brest. Within two weeks we are going to travel all over Belarus and look at each facility to make the necessary adjustments, to put things in order somewhere. In general, we will have to make some technical adjustments and improvements,” Sergei Kovalchuk added. According to the minister, the preparations for large-scale competitions are going according to the plan.
