Over 2,200 athletes register for 2023 CIS Games

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – More than 2,200 athletes have registered for the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus, Belarusian First Deputy Sport and Tourism Minister Aleksandr Dorokhovich told the media on 3 August, BelTA has learned.

“The competitions are open to everyone. Nine countries and 1,138 athletes took part in the 1st CIS Games. Some 2,214 athletes from 22 countries have registered for the 2nd CIS Games,” Aleksandr Dorokhovich said. In his words, 533 people have already arrived in Belarus.

“The Games will feature 20 sports. We will welcome representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Kuwait and many other countries,” the first deputy minister said. “All sport facilities have been branded. Athletes and volunteers have already received outfits. All volunteers have knowledge of foreign languages.”

Aleksandr Dorokhovich added that all the visitors are greeted by volunteers both at the airport and at the 2nd CIS Games venues. “We are open, hospitable, and happy to welcome visitors,” he concluded.
