MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 71 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has advanced to the Libema Open semifinal in s’Hertogenbosch, BelTA has learned.
In the quarterfinal the Belarusian won the first set against Russia’s world number 15 Luidmila Samsonova, 7-6 (7-4). With Sasnovich leading 3-1 in the second set, the Russian athlete had to walk over. For a spot in the final Aliaksandra Sasnovich will face either Russia’s world number 26 Ekaterina Alexandrova or world number 186 Emina Bektas of the United States.
The Belarusian defeated Italy’s world number 111 Lucrezia Stefanini, 6-0, 6-3, in the opener and solved Belgium’s world number 120 Greet Minnen, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, in the second round.
In the women’s doubles Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Georgia’s Oksana Kalashnikova reached the semifinal to face beat Slovakia’s Tereza Mihalikova and Viktoria Hruncakova.
The grass-court event in s’Hertogenbosch will be over on 18 June.
