MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 71 Aliaksandra Sasnovich solved Belgium’s world number 120 Greet Minnen, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, in two hours to reach the Libema Open quartrefinal in s’Hertogenbosch, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian defeated Italy’s world number 111 Lucrezia Stefanini, 6-0, 6-3, in the opener.
In the women’s doubles round of Last 16 Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Georgia’s Oksana Kalashnikova beat Bibiane Schoofs and Lesley Kerkhove of the Netherlands, 6-2, 6-4. In the quarterfinal the Belarusian-Georgian duo will face Elise Mertens of Belgium and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands.
Earlier, world number 19 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus lost to world number 152 Ashlyn Krueger of the United States, 3-6, 2-6. In the opener the Belarusian defeated world number 231 Natalija Stevanovic of Serbia, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
In the women’s doubles opener in Nottingham Belarus’ Lidziya Marozava and Brazil’s Ingrid Martins lost to Natela Dzalamidze of Georgia and Sabrina Santamaria of the United States, 4-6, 4-6.
The grass-court event in s’Hertogenbosch will be over on 18 June.
