Averbukh: Ice projects are many, each has its audiences

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – In a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel the producer of ice shows, stage director Ilya Averbukh spoke about the competition in the ice entertaining industry.

“Now there is a certain boom of ice shows in Russia. Twenty years ago, when I started, the market was completely vacant. For 12 years I was the trendsetter and flagship in the ice entertaining industry. After that, several more projects appeared. First it was Evgeny Plushenko’s project, then Tatyana Navka left my team and created her own story. We are on good terms with her now,” Ilya Averbukh said.

He noted that there are about 10 such teams in Russia, but the “triumvirate” remains the same. “Gradually, each of us found their own niche, the things to focus on. The main thing is that every project is of high quality. It is really high-quality in terms of the selection of artists, lighting, design and the integrity of the program,” Ilya Averbukh noted.

According to him, every project has its own audience. There is a certain migration of viewers. “The most important thing is that everyone has an audience. These are not just words, otherwise someone would have already dropped out of the race. Main income comes from sponsorship and ticket sale,” he stressed. “By buying tickets, the viewer votes for your project. If the viewer stops buying tickets, the project slowly comes to naught. No matter what you say, no matter how you photograph the stands to pass few crowded seats for a full house, you won’t last long. If all shows keep running, it means they all have their audiences. It’s actually great because it encourages you to look for new forms.”

Ilya Averbukh added that it is becoming more and more difficult to surprise the audience. However, more often people go to watch a show to see their favorite athletes that they have been rooting all their lives.
