MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 23 Victoria Azarenka has reached the 2023 Guadalajara Open third round after seeing off Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, ranked World No.102, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), BelTA has learned.
In the opener the Belarusian cruised past world number 147 Robin Montgomery of the United States, 6-1, 6-1. Victoria Azarenka will face Russia’s world number 19 Veronika Kudermetova for a place in the quarterfinal.
Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich, ranked World No.89, lost to France’s world number 11 Caroline Garcia, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 4-6, in the second round. In the opener the Belarusian beat world number 47 Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
