MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to accredit the maximum number of foreign journalists who submitted applications within the established deadlines for the 2nd CIS Games, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anatoly Glaz told the media on 26 June, BelTA has learned.

“The situation in our region is difficult in terms of security. The State Border Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are working seriously on this issue. A ticket for the 2nd CIS Games will be the confirming basis for entering the country. I do not think that there will be any restrictions on the countries or people who purchased tickets,” Anatoly Glaz said.

He explained that the athletes are accredited by the Sport and Tourism Ministry while accreditation of foreign journalists is handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “In terms of scale, the Games are somewhat comparable to the Olympic Games. All systems operate the same. Journalists will be accredited through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then the lists will be submitted to the Sport and Tourism Ministry. The maximum number of applying journalists will be accredited,” Anatoly Glaz emphasized.

According to him, the Information Ministry is actively working to ensure the most comfortable conditions for the work of journalists. There will be a large press center in Minsk. Press zones will be arranged at all sports facilities in all cities. Special press attaches will be assigned. “Everything will be at a high international level. There will be live broadcasts, including in social media. We will give this opportunity to everyone who wants to enjoy this sport event. The press will only help in this,” Anatoly Glaz said.

Foreign journalists are on a press tour in Belarus on 25 June-1 July ahead of the 2nd CIS Games. Taking part in the press tour are 14 journalists from Russia, China, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. On 26 June the delegation visited Dinamo Stadium in Minsk. The sports facility will host the athletics tournament as part of the 2nd CIS Games.
