Grodno Oblast governor inaugurates sports ground in Ostrovets, welcomes interest in sport

OSTROVETS, 18 August (BelTA) – The multifunctional sport ground that recently opened in the town of Ostrovets as part of the Sport for All project is very important, Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“This is a place where children can engage in sport and socialize as safely as possible. Children, on the other hand, need to utilize their energy somewhere. Our task is to ensure that they do it with health benefits and in the safest possible conditions,” Vladimir Karanik said.

According to the governor, such grounds are built in all districts. “The main thing is that there is interest. For example, this ground in Ostrovets was not yet opened, but many residents came to check it out and try sports simulators,” he added noting that the opening of the sports ground is one of the gifts to Ostrovets, the city housing the nuclear power plant, in the run-up to its 555th anniversary.

“We will continue to improve the infrastructure of district centers, agro-towns and to raise the quality of living there. We are a welfare state. Probable we don’t advertise this much. We just work hard to make sure our people live more comfortable and safer every year,” Vladimir Karanik added.
